The Foundation of Hope was established in 1984, through Thad and Alice Eure's commitment to find cures for mental illness.

The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to funding breakthroughs in the treatment of mental illness. The Walk has entered its 19th year and continues to grow, with an average of 2500 participants each year and has raised over 2 million dollars for the Foundation of Hope. The Foundation has granted out these monies to local researchers. This 'seed money' has factored in attracting an additional 89 million dollars for local research through grants from national mental health organizations. The mission of the Foundation of Hope is to promote scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness in order to develop a more effective means of treatment. Additionally, the Foundation is committed to raising community awareness and supporting effective treatment programs.
